تكريم علمي يعكس جسور التعاون بين مصر والنمسا
في إطار دعم التعاون الأكاديمي وتعزيز التبادل العلمي، استقبل الأستاذ الدكتور خالد أبو شنب مدير مكتب مصر للعلاقات الثقافية والتعليمية في فيينا، يوم الأربعاء الموافق 8 أبريل 2026، البروفيسور مايكل فاجرايتش أستاذ الجيولوجيا بكلية علوم الأرض والجغرافيا والفلك في جامعة فيينا، وذلك لتكريمه تقديرا لجهوده العلمية المتميزة، وإشرافه على رسالة الدكتوراه للباحث المصري مصطفى محمد سيد، الذي حصل على درجة الدكتوراه بتقدير امتياز من الجامعة ذاتها.
شهد اللقاء مناقشة أوضاع الطلاب المصريين الدارسين تحت إشراف البروفيسور فاجرايتش، حيث أشرف على عدد من الباحثين من جامعات مصرية عدة، منها جامعة القاهرة وجامعة بني سويف وجامعة المنيا، كما استضاف عددا من باحثي ما بعد الدكتوراه. وتناول الحوار أيضا آفاق التعاون المستقبلي، وسبل تعزيز فرص استضافة المزيد من الطلاب المصريين في هذا التخصص الحيوي.
ويُعد البروفيسور فاجرايتش من الأسماء البارزة عالميا في مجالي علم الرسوبيات وعلم الطبقات الأرضية، وهو عضو في اللجنة الدولية لعلم الطبقات الأنثروبوسين، وقد نشر أكثر من 310 بحثا دوليا، إضافة إلى 3 كتب و77 ورقة بحثية في مؤتمرات علمية مرموقة، ويبلغ مؤشر هيرش الخاص به 52، ما يعكس تأثيره العلمي الواسع.
وكانت هذه الزيارة قد جاءت بدعوة من الدكتور خالد أبو شنب، خلال حضور البروفيسور مناقشة رسالة الدكتوراه للباحث مصطفى محمد سيد، المدرس المساعد بجامعة بني سويف وعضو البعثة الخارجية بجامعة فيينا، والتي جرت في 24 مارس 2026، وحصل خلالها على درجة الدكتوراه بامتياز.
ويُذكر أن الباحث مصطفى محمد سيد حقق عددا من الإنجازات الدولية البارزة، من بينها حصوله على جائزة دعم الباحثين الدوليين من مؤسسة Cushman، المتخصصة في أبحاث الحفريات الدقيقة، وذلك للمشاركة في مؤتمر FORAMS، الأكبر عالميا في هذا المجال، حيث نال أيضًا جائزة أفضل عرض تقديمي. كما فاز بجائزة William Sliter Research لعام 2025، وهي من الجوائز المرموقة التي تدعم الباحثين الشباب في دراسة الحفريات الدقيقة للعصور الوسطى والحديثة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تم اختياره للحصول على منحة بحثية من مؤسسة Marshal Foundation في النمسا، لإجراء أبحاث بجامعة كانساس في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وفي ختام اللقاء، قدّم الدكتور خالد أبو شنب شهادة شكر وتقدير لكل من البروفيسور فاجرايتش والباحث مصطفى محمد سيد، إلى جانب هدايا تذكارية باسم المكتب الثقافي المصري في فيينا، معربًا عن تمنياته بمزيد من التقدم والنجاح، بما يسهم في دعم مسيرة البحث العلمي وخدمة خطط التنمية في مصر.
ويأتي هذا التكريم في إطار حرص الدولة ووزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي على إيفاد المبعوثين إلى أرقى الجامعات العالمية، بما يعزز نقل المعرفة واكتساب الخبرات في التخصصات الحديثة، دعما لأهداف التنمية المستدامة.
Prof. Dr. Michael Wagreich
A distinguished professor in the fields of sedimentology and stratigraphy at the Geology Department, Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy, University of Vienna, Austria. As a stratigrapher with an interest in paleoclimate and events in Earth History, and interested in the Anthropocene, especially in the geological and stratigraphic definition of this potential new unit of the Geological Timescale and the anthropogenic Earth System changes. Following this interest, he is a member of the Anthropocene Working Group (AWG), the committee of the International Commission on Stratigraphy, which investigates the Anthropocene as a stratigraphic unit.
So far, he has published 310 articles, 3 books, 17 chapters, and 77 conference papers. He has a great impact in his field with a Hirsch index (H-index) of 52. He contributed with many Egyptian researchers from Cairo, Beni Suef, and Minia universities, as he supervised many PhD students and hosted many postdoc scholars as well.
Die Förderung von akademischem Austausch auf bilateraler Ebene gehört zu den zentralen Aufgaben des Ägyptischen Büros für kulturelle Beziehungen und Studienangelegenheiten. Wesentlich ist hierbei die Betreuung von jungem ägyptischem Universitätspersonal, das sich für einen Forschungsaufenthalt in Österreich, Tschechien, Slowakei, Slowenien oder Ungarn befindet. Wir unterstützen hinsichtlich Kontaktaufnahme und Vermittlung zur Gastuniversität, helfen bei auftretenden Schwierigkeiten weiter und koordinieren die offizielle Kommunikation mit dem ägyptischen Ministerium für Hochschulbildung und wissenschaftliche Forschung. Die ägyptischen Stipendiat*innen wiederum sind verpflichtet, mit uns in regelmäßigem Kontakt zu stehen und uns über ihre Forschung und den geleisteten Fortschritt zu informieren. Im Anhang finden sich wichtige Formulare und Vorlagen auf Arabisch, die in diesem Zusammenhang notwendig sind.

The meeting started with mutual introductions of the new Cultural Counselor and Head of Office in Vienna, Prof. Dr. Khaled Aboshanab, as well as the administrative officers, Dr. Anna DILTSCH, and Mr Olaf HAHN, to the Egyptian students who are pursuing their Master’s and PhD programs in Hungary
The meeting covers all the subjects that are of concern:
1- Student follow-up and academic reports to ensure their smooth academic progress and financial support during their missions.
2- The procedures that require approval for all trips abroad, attending conferences, and annual vacations, and the role of the cultural office for such aspects.
3- Housing allowances: Who is eligible and how to apply, and how it is calculated?
A Q&A session to answer any additional queries that have not been addressed during the meeting, with an emphasis on the future regular meetings.
